Mysteries, thrillls and chills . . . one story at a time.
Day 14 total word count: 22,818!
I’m nearly at the half way point and unlike at the beginning of the month, I can actually see my way to the end. I finished the 3rd of my “Mama Lou” trilogy and I’m having the darndest time resisting the impulse to start editing. But I’m going to keep to the spirit of NaNo and save that pleasure until December 1.
Another of the many things that I enjoy about NaNo, besides having to give account of my daily word count is the sense of community. This year, I’ve made some really terrific connections; an extremely talented up and coming new artist accepted my commission to create a character sketch for Mama Lou and Ethel Mae. I’ve seen the early drafts and my girls are absolutely gorgeous! I also connected with a book cover designer who works with small presses and independently published authors. She is going to take the finished painting and create a book cover for me. More to come about this later but for now, I’ll tell you that I’ve decided to e-publish my Mama Lou series of shorts!
But for now, I have 17 days of NaNo remaining. I am so bored with this straight contemporary romance. How am I supposed to capture a reader’s attention when I can’t get this story to sustain my own??! Any minute now, I’m going to throw in a dead body or at least maim somebody! It’s too soon for them to have sex so what am I supposed to do? I suppose I could turn this into a book of erotica. . .
I’m open to any and all suggestions, so somebody P L E A S E help me out!
Okay, I’m done whining . . . I’m going back to my WORD document and for the rest of you participating in NaNo . . .
