Mysteries, thrillls and chills . . . one story at a time.
Are you a writer? Perhaps you’ve dreamed of writing the Great American Novel?
Do you have the idea for a NYT Bestseller? But somehow, never find the time to put pen to paper? Everything from work, family, community demands . . . it all seems to get in the way of you accomplishing your dream.
Malice of Memphis, a local group of mystery/suspense writers may have just the solution for you.
November 1-3, 2013, Friday through Sunday afternoon, we are hosting a writer’s retreat at St. Columba Conference and Retreat Center. St Columba’s is located in Bartlett, on 145 acres of wooded paradise, a secluded oasis right in the middle of the city, free from distractions. Plan to stay overnight but we’ll make room for day trippers as well.
You owe it to yourself to take this time, enjoy your creativity in a new and special way.
All writers, regardless of skill level, published or not are welcome. Though we are a group of mystery writers, we are making room for romance novelists, Christian/Inspirational writers, writers of literary fiction, you’re all welcome here.
You can expect quiet and solitude if you prefer, or you can use the time for fellowship, camaraderie, sharing ideas and brainstorming.
You can also count on several structured activities. Patricia Potter, author of over 60 novels and past president of Romance Writers of America will lead a discussion on writing your first chapter. Jim Paavala will present a workshop on self-publishing. We will walk through “21 Days to a Novel” by Michael Stackpole, as well as writing sprints and prompts.
We hope you’ll join us. All meals, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, overnight lodging for 3 days and 2 nights, drinks and snacks, fellowship and support is available to you at the low cost of $50. That’s it!
