Day 5: Serendipity

Serendipity means a “happy accident” or “pleasant surprise”; a fortunate mistake. Specifically, the accident of finding something good or useful while not specifically searching for it. [-Wikipedia]

I experienced this in my writing today.  A new character I had not planned for.  An elderly homeless panhandler named Higgins.   He provided vital information about the bad guys to the cops and insight into the identity of my female protag.

I won’t be seeing him again but Higgins left a bittersweet impression.

Has this ever happened to you?
